🏡The FARMISH Mindset🏡 *is a reader-supported publication that appears twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays. It is aimed at families and entrepreneurs who want to move to the countryside or have already taken this step. The news is full of images of armed hordes confronting each other in English cities. But not only in Great Britain.
Many of my readers want to move to the countryside. Some of them have already done so during the pandemic or the idea is now increasingly buzzing around in their heads again.
Many have an overly romantic or even naive view of this lifestyle change. To save you from disappointment and frustration, I would like to share my 20 years of experience living in the country.
Because, when even the World Economic Forum is warning us about a world getting much more angrier, we should listen.
🏡
Hello everyone
I moved out of the city years ago
But I didn't just move from an apartment to a farmhouse in the country. It felt more like a move on steroids. I even immigrated to a country I knew very little about. And it was the best decision ever.
As you guessed it, yes, it helped me to be in love with the best future wife imaginable. By the way, in October 2024 we will celebrate 20 years of relationship (18 of them married).
My main motivation was and is to take my health into my own hands. I was fed up with the food industry, which uses every opportunity to deceive us consumers. With false promises. With outright lies on the labels and with word constructions that would amaze even a chemist.
And sometimes you might even think that the food industry is in bed with the pharmaceutical industry...
The learning curve was steeper than expected
Being responsible for your body and nourishing it properly is hard work. The garden, with or without animals, is more demanding than you think. And I even had the advantage of a professional education in the field. (I have degrees in gardening, business, and permaculture design).
But it's the kind of work that comes with a lot of satisfaction and a sense of freedom. Especially the freedom to live my rhythm.
I always felt the need to be authentic and do things my way. I was desperate for more meaningful relationships and a stronger connection to nature. Village life is different. A chat with a neighbor here, help from someone you never thought could help you there. And it all changes you. It has changed me. And it will positively change you too, if you let it.
This transformation helped my creativity to re-emerge in a sustainable and financially healthy way. My ideas flowed more easily, I started writing again. And soon the first people came to ask for advice.
These are the keywords for my transformation:
Freedom
Authenticity
Relationships
Money
Innovation
Sustainability
Health
Congratulations, you have discovered the FARMISH mindset.

Here’s the complete story of how I discovered it.
🏡
It's the harmony that makes the symphony
Simply moving away from the city does not lead directly to happiness. It's the balance of these seven categories in your life that counts.
All too often, initial enthusiasm is followed by disillusionment. The garden turns into a jungle, the children's school doesn't live up to expectations, and earning money from home requires more boundaries than expected. It can all become very overwhelming.
But with a little strategy and experience from a different perspective, life in the country can be much more than just green and peaceful. It can be the lifestyle you've been dreaming of for nights on end.
Let us help you make it a reality
Follow me for more posts with practical tips for a balanced life that includes the whole family - and your dreams of a self-determined, free, and healthy life.
Thank you for reading. All the best and see you soon.
