Make BMI Your Benchmark to Improve Everything - Here’s Why
How Tracking Your BMI Can Improve Your Health and Fix Hidden Issues.
Understanding BMI and Why it Matters
If you’ve ever tried to get a handle on your health, you’ve probably heard about BMI, or Body Mass Index. It’s a simple calculation using your height and weight. It will categorize you as underweight, healthy, overweight, or obese.

Some critics say BMI oversimplifies things. While it doesn't account for muscle mass or other factors, BMI is a good tool for gauging health trends. It's also very accessible. It’s like a dashboard warning light. It won’t tell you everything, but it lets you know when you need to step on the brakes.
Think of BMI as your starting point. It’s not about perfection. It’s about knowing where you stand and using that as motivation to move forward.
Let's Change the World's Most Miserable Statistic: Obesity
Obesity is now a major, tragic health issue worldwide. According to the World Health Organization, global obesity rates have tripled since 1975. Today, almost half of adults are overweight, with about 13% in the obese category.
This isn’t just about numbers. Obesity comes with a hefty cost—physically, emotionally, and financially. It increases the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and joint problems. But it also drains people's energy, confidence, and freedom. You can't live a happy life with constant pain.
The good news? Every individual success story contributes to reversing this trend. By improving your BMI, you’re not just helping yourself. You’re becoming part of a global movement. One that tackles the most urgent health crises of our time.
The Ripple Effect of Improving BMI on Health
When I began my health journey, I wasn’t concerned about my weight only. I was dealing with a host of nagging issues. They felt unrelated—headaches, achy joints, poor sleep, and even hemorrhoids. I didn’t connect the dots. These seemingly small issues were tied to my weight and inflammation.
When I started focusing on improving my BMI, it was like throwing a pebble into a pond. The positive changes rippled outward.
Affecting every part of my health. Less joint pain meant I could move more. Fewer headaches helped me focus better. Better digestion - who doesn't want that?
Improving your BMI may help with some issues you've tolerated for too long. Chronic fatigue and back pain might fade away. It’s all connected, and it starts with taking that first step.
My Transformation: A Journey of 25 kg (55 lbs)
My wake-up call came after a series of severe health problems. A cycle of poor eating habits, low energy, and stress.
Then, one day, it clicked—I wasn’t just losing years of my life. I was losing the quality of the years I had left. And this thought made me act.
I started small, adopting a Keto diet that focused on healthy fats and reducing carbs. I ditched processed foods entirely. Switched to organic foods. Without the toxins, my energy levels rose.
And perhaps the biggest game-changer? I stopped snacking.
Over time, I lost 25 kilograms. But more than the weight, I gained something priceless: freedom. My body didn’t feel like a burden anymore. Instead, it became a partner. And I learned to take care.
Your Action Plan for a Healthier BMI
Ready to start your transformation? Here’s how to take the first steps:
Calculate your BMI: Use any free online BMI calculator. Knowing your number gives you a starting point and a goal to aim for.
Start with food decisions. Make one small change. Cut out processed snacks. Add more animal fats to your meals. Remember, our ancestors didn't thrive on kale and avocados. But keep in mind: consistency beats perfection every time.
Move a little more: You don’t need to hit the gym every day. Even a 15-minute walk after meals can make a big difference. It works wonders.
Track your progress: Regularly check in on your BMI, but don’t obsess. Focus on how you feel, not just the numbers. Enjoy the improvements.
Small, steady steps will lead to significant results over time. The goal isn’t to overhaul your life overnight. It’s to create sustainable habits that keep you feeling great for years to come.

I just did a quick search, found a BMI calculator, and got a number. It was super easy.
I think the thing for everyone to remember is not to compare yourself with everyone else. Say your number is 29. The question then could be, how would I feel if I got my BMI to 25? Would I have more energy and less aches and pains?
Who cares about that freak of nature that has a BMI of 16. This is about you. Everyone is unique, with different body shapes and bone densities. One person’s BMI 16 is another persons BMI 20.
Was just about to ask how we find our BMI rating. Then saw Tim’s comment. It would be interesting to see. What is interesting to me is that you felt better after switching to organic produce too. What we eat has a huge impact on our health. I know that sounds stupid simple but it really does!
Great article - thank you!
