That stupid white-and-gray monster of a dog barking at me came out of nowhere. Standing on his hind legs at the fence. Showing me all his teeth.
In that second of shock, I forgot the title I had planned to give this piece you’re reading right now.
So, if you think "Raw & Unfiltered" is a weird title, blame the dog.
Seriously.
In an attempt to catch some sunlight, I decided to take a Sunday afternoon walk. Nothing fancy. Just strolling through the village where I live. Enjoying the open fields of Transylvania — all already plowed. Minding my own business. You know, oxygenating the brain.
And then I had this crazy idea.
The What
Almost 150 beautiful individuals are reading my FARMISH Mindset newsletter every week. Add to that the few hundred followers I have on LinkedIn. That’s quite a bunch of people interested in my way of thinking.
And for this, I am very grateful.
BUT!
How can I expect them to understand me? My world. My pair of shoes, as the old American Native saying goes?
What if they don’t really know me? What if they don’t understand enough to care about my way of thinking? About the society we’re living in? Or even about the business world most of us face?
Day in, day out.
So, I decided—long before the dog interrupted my thoughts—to start a little series. Something to help you see the world through my eyes. The beauty and the ugliness, the brave and the shameful, And everything in between.
The last thing you need from me is another description of a morning routine, the next productivity hack, or the latest app to store your thoughts. That’s what Google is for.
The FARMISH Mindset newsletter is probably just one of many newsletters you’ve subscribed to. (Apparently, there are people out there subscribing to hundreds of newsletters—no idea why.)
But hey, who am I to judge?
At the end of the day, all newsletters have one thing in common:
They’re all competing for your attention.
A whole industry has evolved around the question: “How do we gain attention?” It’s fascinating, not just for the obvious reasons. Everyone is lecturing about it: social media experts, writers, and marketers.
But, they rarely offer something new. Most of their wisdom is rooted in old truths about human behavior. Stuff we’ve known since Plato, Aurelius, and the like.
Back when philosophers were the influencers of their time.
So, while walking, I asked myself: What kind of newsletters do I actually enjoy reading?
For me, it’s simple: two kinds. The super-informative ones, (like this one: Her Weatlh Journey from ) and the deeply personal ones.
That thought made me slow down. I needed more oxygen for my brain.
I realized there was a gap—a gap in what I’m writing for you.
If you’re reading The FARMISH Mindset, you probably already know what it’s about, right? But just to make sure we’re talking the same language (which is very unlikely because I’m speaking Swiss German), here’s a quick reminder.
Short. I promise.
(Waiting…)
Aww, you made coffee? For me too? That’s so sweet—thank you!
Okay, here we go:
This newsletter promises to reconnect you with Nature and make it your most powerful ally—in life and business.
But let’s be honest: What does that even mean?
Reconnecting with Nature isn’t about plugging a wire in an outlet. Or giving you lectures about watching BBC series with David Attenborough.
It’s about understanding Nature’s laws and living in harmony with them. It’s that simple. Nature’s laws aren’t questionable—they’ve worked for millions of years.
And the easiest way to understand Nature?
Permaculture.
Maybe you’ve never heard of it. It’s basically a blueprint for "using Nature" created by two biologists from Australia and New Zealand. It’s not flashy or new.
It’s just a straightforward way of explaining Nature’s principles in a way we can apply to design a garden.
Wait, what?
A garden? C’mon man, I’m not reading your newsletter to plan a garden! I don’t even have a house!
Patience, my friend. (I struggle with patience too—it’s one of Nature’s principles, after all.)
The cool thing about permaculture principles is that they work beyond gardens. Every challenge you face, whether in your personal life or your business, can be solved by aligning with Nature’s ways.
And let’s face it: working against Nature? Never ends well. Sometimes the consequences aren’t obvious at first, but they’re always there—waiting.
For the chance to unleash chaos.
Unlike today’s society, Nature doesn’t reward stupidity.
Okay, I promised to keep it short. Sorry!
The Why
So, why am I writing all this?
Not for the fame. Not for a million-dollar book deal (although, hey, I wouldn’t say no). And not because I’m some all-knowing guru.
I’m writing this because I’ve learned that people don’t connect with ideas—they connect with people.
We all encounter challenges. They all fit into one of the areas of life of the FARMISH acronym. The topics we speak about. Here they are:
F reedom
A uthenticity
R elationships
M oney
I Innovation
S Sustainability
H ealth
The acronym starting with freedom and ending with health is no coincidence. My life showed me again and again that these two words are the most essential life areas.
If the five words in between are in balance too, then you live a life in harmony.
Almost like paradise.
Can I promise you paradise? Not yet, but I'm working on it.
Well, I’m thinking right now about other newsletters I deeply enjoy. For example, the insights into the life of a marine biologist aka
How cool is that!Or the thoughts of
Who isn’t bored or boring at all. If you’re not familiar with their work. Check it out. You’ll be surprised. The fascinating thing about these kinds of newsletters (and I’m sure there are many more) isn’t the accuracy of the knowledge they offer. But the very personal insights into daily life.
And this made me wonder.
Why aren’t more coaches writing about their life? Giving us a clue about what they’re thinking. How they handle challenges in life?
Are they afraid to lose something?
Now, don’t get me wrong. I still cringe a little at the thought of over-sharing.
You won’t find me live-streaming my breakfast or posting teary-eyed selfies. But I will share the raw parts—the good, the messy, and the occasionally ridiculous moments. Because that’s where connection lives.
We’re all figuring things out as we go. And if we can learn from each other’s successes (and screw-ups), life feels a little less overwhelming.
So, here’s the deal:
Every now and then, I’ll pop into your inbox with a story. No filters, no perfect endings. Just me, sharing the world through my lens.
Why? Because Nature’s laws don’t just live in the forests and gardens—they live in us, too. They show up in our everyday struggles and triumphs. In our messy attempts to build businesses and lives that feel good, not only look good.
The Invitation
If this sounds like your kind of thing—great! Stick around.
If not? No hard feelings. There’s no shortage of polished, Instagram-perfect newsletters out there waiting for you.
But here? In this raw & unfiltered part of the FARMISH Mindset publication?
Here’s where the dog interrupts my walk, the sun makes me squint, and my mind wanders into places I didn’t plan to go.
And maybe, just maybe, that’s exactly what you’re looking for.
So, let’s do this. A new part inside the FARMISH Mindset publication.
This Is Me—Raw & Unfiltered. (like my morning milk. See, you’re getting diet tips for free already 🤣 )
And above all unapologetically imperfect.
Cheers, Daniel
